Mohawk No-Blush Plus Retarder

I have a love-hate relationship with Mohawk (brand) "No Blush Plus Retarder (MS103-0475)". It can save a project, or it can really screw things up if you spray it on to heavy! A little dab'll do ya!

When you spray on a clear finish, sometimes it will blush. Blushing is white cloudiness due to trapped moisture (from humidity, steam, etc). It can happen on hot and humid days in the summer or any rainy day.

When it happens it is really frustrating!

For a long time, I had no good solution. Then, I found Mohawk (brand) "No Blush Plus Retarder (MS103-0475)". It can be MAGIC or SUDDEN DEATH!

It removes the blushing by melting and re-flowing a finish. You need to spray on a VERY LIGHT coat! BEWARE! If you re-flow to much you will get drips!

I ALWAYS aim it to the side of the thing I want to fix and apply it via the overspray.

It tends to make your finish dry a little more glossy. If that is a problem. Then knock down the gloss with a 500 grit Abralon Sanding Pad and buff it to your desired gloss.

The Mohawk web site says it works on lacquer finishes. I have found it may or may not work on other finishes. For example, it sort of works on super glue.

If you have nothing to loose then give it a try. HOWEVER, it will probably, permanently damage water-based coatings.

BEWARE! It contains lots of nasty chemicals. USE IT OUTSIDE!

Right now (9/9/2026) it looks like Amazon is the cheapest place you can purchase Mohawk (brand) "No Blush Plus Retarder (MS103-0475)". $21 on 9/9/2026.

It is not cheap! Purchasing anything from Mohawk is expensive. They have a "handling charge" on top of a "shipping charge". Err…. A $13 can of stuff ends up costing you $21 or more.
