Meta Description: Carl Ford's Woodturning Blog: Carl reverses the lathe banjo and his Trent Bosch Stabilizer when hollowing with the lathe in reverse. The arms on his Stabilizer are then free to move almost completely unimpeded.
I always run the lathe in reverse when hollow turning.
Last year, I got smart and I reversed the lathe banjo and my Trent Bosch Stabilizer. Now, the arms
on my Stabilizer are free to move almost completely unimpeded when I am hollowing!
The main pivot point on the Stabilizer does not get in the way. See photos
below. It is ALMOST the best thing since sliced bread! Continue reading Reverse The Bosch Stabilizer→
Meta Description: Carl Ford's Woodturning Blog: Carl added a handle to his "Simple Hollower". This is how he did it. Now he can use his whole body to make nice hollow form shapes. The way he does, when he is using a bowl gouge with a handle.
I own and like the Simple Hollowing System by Simple Woodturning Tools. It is good for
small Hollowing projects. For things that will fit in a 6" x 6" x 6" square box when finished. For
Christmas Ornaments, Boxes, SMALL Vases, SMALL Hollow Forms, etc. See my Carl’s Modern
Hollowing Tools bog entry for more "Simple Hollower" info.
However, I needed to add a handle to the "Simple Hollower" to make it work for me. I like to
use my whole body to move a tool while turning. When I use a bowl gouge, the handle is always
against my body. I use the big muscles in my legs to make nice shapes. Trying to move the "Simple
Hollower" around with just my hands and arms, is not acceptable. I need to use my whole body! Thus,
I needed to add a handle to my "Simple Hollower". Continue reading Handle Added to Simple Hollower→

Meta Description: Carl Ford's Woodturning Blog: Carl now uses Bungee Cords to secure his Trent Bosch Stabilizer when storing it. Thus, it is easy to handle. It does NOT unfold and flop around.
Installing or removing the Trent Bosch Stabilizer can be a pain. Because it is hard to handle
when it unfolds and flops around. I now use Bungee Cords to secure the stabilizer. See photos. Continue reading Bosch Stabilizer Storage – Bungee Cords→
